The Flash / Supergirl musical crossover is one of the biggest events we have to look forward to before DCTV’s spring finales. The crossover event, titled “Duet,” is set to air in the normal Flash and Supergirl time slots March 20 and 21st. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the writers behind “City of Stars” from the Oscar-winning film La La Land , even wrote one of the original songs. Malcolm Merlyn and Martin Stein are both coming from Legends of Tomorrow to sing. And now, we know a little bit more about the crossover event’s villain: Music Meister.

It appears Supergirl gets “whammied” by Music Meister, putting her in a coma. Mon-El and J’onzz don’t know what to do, so they visit Flash for help.

DARREN CRISS (“GLEE”) GUEST STARS AS THE MUSIC MEISTER IN THE FLASH AND SUPERGIRL MUSICAL CROSSOVER – Barry (Grant Gustin) and team are surprised when Mon-El (guest star Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (guest star David Harewood) arrive on their Earth carrying a comatose Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist) who was whammied by the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss). Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her.

The La La Land duo’s song, titled “Runnin Home to You” will be sung by series star great Gustin. The second song we know of so far is called “Superfriends,” written by Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star and executive producer Rachel Bloom and Robot Chicken’s Tom Root.

Flash and Supergirl actors Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist are both Glee alums, as is Daniel Criss, who plays Music Meister. In fact, both casts are extremely musically inclined. John Barrowman, Jeremy Jordan, Jesse L. Martin and Victor Garber are all talented stage signers. Carlos Valdes and Keiynan Lonsdale have a few musical projects of their own. David Harewood and Chris Wood are listed as non-singing guests.

Music Meister controls people through song and can hypnotize people to believe everyone’s singing. In the Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode ‘Mayhem of the Music Meister,’ he hypnotizes Black Canary, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Black Manta, Gorilla Grodd and Clock King in an effort to destroy the world. We don’t know what this version of Music Meister has in mind for these two groups of heroes, or if he’ll have the exact same set of powers. What does getting “whammied” mean exactly? Hopefully, we’ll know more in the coming weeks.
