During a Twitter Q&A, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn pretty much confirmed a special presentation for his upcoming film will be at San Diego Comic-Con.
When asked when a teaser or trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 would be released, the director tweeted this out to anyone attending the convention to be on the lookout for Marvel’s presentation this year.
And if you aren’t attending Comic-Con, don’t expect Marvel Studios to release the clip online. As Gunn points out (and what many movie execs say), the visual FX are not complete for people to watch.
We know Doctor Strange director Scotter Derrickson and Gunn will both attend Comic-Con in July. but the former tweeting about a Guardians 2 presentation gives fans something to be excited about after Marvel Studios declined to have a Hall H presentation in 2015.
This also suggests we could see exclusive footage of Doctor Strange during the presentation as well. Doctor Strange is set to release Nov. 4 and is already in post-production so there is likely plenty of footage to show off if Marvel chooses to do so.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will have a larger cast and bigger roles from returning characters like Nebula. The sequel to the surprise 2014 hit will also deal extensively with “fathers” including Star-Lord’s, who was teased at the end of the first film.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will release on May 5, 2017.
