Supergirl will officially make its move from CBS to The CW Monday evening at 8. Season 2 kicks off with a bang. Superman joins Kara in National City to fight off a common threat and Mon-El has landed in town from Daxam, a planet similar to Krypton. But aside from the plot, will Supergirl Season 2 be different than the first due to the big move?
Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg caught up with Entertainment Weekly and revealed the show is going get geekier and there's a little bit more comic book aspect. The change in set--from Los Angeles to Vancouver-- allows the scope to be a lot bigger, like the other DC TV shows like Arrow, The Flash and Legends.
“I would rather be overcast and thus have the ability to go out into some streets, and make this show feel huge and cinematic than having the villain show up at her apartment like four episodes in a row last season, which again I think we got away with it, but I think it would’ve started to feel very small if we continued in L.A,” Kreisberg said.
Supergirl is the first major female superhero on all DC TV shows. Much of the first season on CBS focused on what that's like for her, a woman, fighting crime -- an experience distinct from other male heroes like Arrow and The Flash. It’ll be an interesting dynamic moving forward, particularly when Supergirl meets Arrow and The Flash. She’s most definitely the strongest and most powerful superhero out of them all. Arrow had a hard time admitting that in Superhero fight club, while the Flash seems to embrace it a bit more. In fact, the Supergirl cast has the most powerful superheroes on DCTV--Superman, Martian Manhunter and soon Miss Martian--all with extraordinary abilities rivaling even The Flash.
“Especially now going to season 2, what the show is trying to say about whether it’s women’s rights, or women’s role in the workplace, or what it means to be a female superhero, or what it means to be a woman juggling all aspects of her life, are shown more by example and less by speeches and dialogue,” Kreisberg added.
Since Supergirl is in her second year of crime-fighting, she’s bound to be even more powerful this season. We’ll find out just how much she’s grown tonight on The CW when Season 2 premieres.
How To Watch Season 2 Episode 1, ‘The Adventures of Supergirl’
CBS had All Access so you could watch live with a subscription instead of cable. The CW doesn’t have that option. If you don’t have cable, there’s no way to (legally) watch Supergirl Season 2 episode 1 live online. Your best bet is to download The CW App and watch on-demand tomorrow. The CW App is free and there’s no cable login necessary. Unfortunately, The CW App is the only way to watch next-day, since The Flash isn’t expected to stream on Hulu anymore. If I were you, I’d bribe one of your friends for their cable login. It’s the only way!
