Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow don’t air this week, so we won’t see the Waverider crew until The Flash ’s “Invasion!” crossover episode on Nov. 29. However, The CW has released a very compelling crossover trailer previewing an alien attack in what looks to be the WWII-era 1940s.
The so called “found footage” is U.S. government property, classified material with spacecrafts hovering and a vicious looking Dominator approaching to finish off a man down. This isn’t our first look at the Dominators. We saw a few glimpses in the first crossover teaser released last week.
It’s important to note Legends of Tomorrow is the third and final part of the “Invasion!” crossover event. Considering this new footage and taking the Legends “ Invasion!” episode synopsis into account, it sounds like 20+ superheroes traveling back in time on the Waverider could be a possibility.
Flashpoint is another twist to consider. Arrow’s “Invasion!” episode synopsis says a secret from Flashpoint surfaces that turns everyone against each other. Also, Oliver wakes up in an alternate timeline where the Queen’s Gambit never sank. It could be possible Flashpoint has something to do with The Dominator’s plan, or is the cause of their visit.
Kevin Smith, who directed the latest episode of The Flash, "Killer Frost," recently said in a Facebook Live that what Barry really did to the universe is going to "blow your mind."
"Now Flashpoint's going to be known for something else completely different by the time the season's done because wait until you see what Barry really did to the timeline. It's going to blow your mind folks!"
This footage could also be tied to Rip Hunter’s disappearance and the message The Flash sent to the Waverider from 2056. The full contents of that message will be revealed sometime during the crossover event. Finding out why the message was so important that Rip had to keep it a secret could be the key to all of this. Marc Guggenheim did say in October that plot lines from The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow will weave through “Invasion!” the most.
