For many video games, the success sometimes hinges on the number of players who try them out and eventually stay. This means that the goal is to find ways to deliver a good gaming experience to new players. Naraka: Bladepoint appears to have solved that with the use of AI.
To put it simply, Naraka: Bladepoint is a battle royale game with a maximum of 60 players in combat. With that in mind, you probably know just how important it is to make new players “happy.”
So what does this have to do with AI? According to the development team at 24 Entertainment, having AI-controlled enemies is a good way to introduce new players to the game. This allows new players to avoid being eliminated early by more experienced players. The team shared that they hope it will ease new players in the game’s competitive environment, while at the same time, avoid having a frustrating first impression.
The matches, however, won’t always have AI bots. As the skill of the player increases, the bots are replaced with human players having similar skill levels. By the time a player is familiar with the game and its features, they get matched against other human players having the same progression. Ultimately, the team said that the goal is to offer a truly competitive matchmaking experience.
The team added that they’ll be monitoring the player experience and continue working on improving the behavior of AI bots, to provide a positive experience no matter the skill level.
Released on August 12, Naraka: Bladepoint is available on PC through Steam at $19.99. There are also pre-order bonuses, the new hero Yoto Hime and the exclusive Tarka Ji Outfit. The pre-order bonuses can still be claimed by those who buy the game until August 19.
