It may already be 2025, but sometimes, you just can't help but miss old-fashioned retro games. It may be hard to enjoy them these days, especially if you don't have older-gen consoles at homes.

Today's New on Steam feature might be the answer that you're looking for if you've been wanting to play retro-style games. Today's feature is inspired by shooter games from the 90s while still having a fast-paced combat system and realistic gunplay mechanics.

What's new on Steam? It's none other than "Beyond Citadel."

Early Steam Reviews

"Beyond Citadel" has, as of press time, more than 900 user reviews on Steam, which has categorized them as "Overwhelmingly Positive."

Steam user RainForce calls the game the "Sequel we did not expect, but sure glad we got."

"Overall, stays true to the previous game with a few improvements here and there," RainForce said. "Arguably the biggest improvement is in pacing that is especially noticeable at the start, first half of the game is fantastic - you get introduced to the arsenal, and every now and then you get special levels where you are given some super weapon or a vehicle."

"A worthy sequel to its predecessor, 'Beyond Citadel' brings the same graphic 80s cyberpunk anime aesthetic and boomer shooter gameplay while improving it in every way," Steam user DrHenwig said in a separate review.

"The game features improved art and environments, expanded resource management mechanics, a stronger focus on the narrative and worldbuilding, and significantly better performance," DrHenwig added.
