The next title in the storied Monster Hunter franchise will launch in Japan with items from Legend of Zelda . Check out the trailer below to see how Monster Hunter Stories will benefit from some of that Legend of Zelda je ne sais quois below:
Items include Link’s iconic green clothes, Majora’s mask and your trusty steed Epona. Your main character receives Link’s tunic and hat, the Master Sword and the Hylian Shield, while the Felyne sidekick takes on Skull Kid’s role from Majora’s Mask and bears the mask as well. Epona takes on the role of your paired “monster.”
You can still switch genders as would normally be possible while wearing these Zelda- themed items, so little lady Link is perfectly achievable.
The Zelda crossover brings to mind Monster Hunter Generations, which similarly saw a tribute to Wind Waker earlier this year. Capcom offered Link as a free download, though that Link was a Felyne with cat ears and tail who communicated with squawks and meows rather than grunts and hi-yahs:
Monster Hunter Stories will be released exclusively on Nintendo 3DS in Japan Oct. 8. No Western release date has been announced yet.
