Amiibos have become Nintendo’s surprise cash cow since their introduction a few years back, and their popularity doesn’t seem to be letting up, with new amiibo being created seemingly every few months. But where can collector’s put all of their prized figures?
There is an official amiibo stand, but creative amiibo collectors are always looking to build or find unique ways to showing off their amiibo collection. Nintendo wants to help in that process with a brand new way to arrange amiibo in the form of dioramas.
Nintendo revealed the new amiibo dioramas in its Japanese web store and the amiibo community is buzzing.
Currently, there are only two selections for the amiibo diorama. There is a Kirby-themed diorama, and the site features the new amiibo that will launch with the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game, Kirby: Planet Robobot. The Kirby diorama seems to fit four amiibo and comes with pop-out stage items that you can place anyway you like.
The second diorama is based on Super Smash Bros, can fit five amiibo, and comes with a pop out Smash Ball so you can perform your Final Smash.
According to the site, each amiibo diorama kit will be priced at 864 yen (about $8) and will be sold separately from the amiibo.
It is not yet known if the amiibo dioramas will be available elsewhere, but if they sell well enough, Nintendo of America could decide to bring them to the West.
So what do you think of the amiibo dioramas? Do you hope they make more based on other video game properties like Zelda or Pokémon? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section.
