To avoid the same lackluster launch as the Wii U, Nintendo is gearing up to bring the company’s largest IPs within months of the Nintendo NX launch, if reports are to be believed.
According to MCV, Nintendo is putting together a lineup of triple-A games to make the launch of the NX go off without a hitch.
Pokémon is included in the lineup as GameFreak is reportedly bringing a game to the NX alongside first-party titles like the already revealed Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and a brand new Mario game.
The report also says third-party developers like Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Activision and Warner Bros are on board the Nintendo NX hype train.
Sources close to the situation also confirmed the Eurogamer report, which revealed the NX will be a portable console that can be plugged into your TV and have two controllers that breakaway.
“It’s a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one,” said one exec that has got hands on with the machine. “It won’t appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That’s going to be a big job for the marketing department.”
There’s a lot of questions surrounding the Nintendo NX and the reported lineup of games.
Will the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Moon be ported to the NX after its 3DS release? Is this new Mario game a party game or something along the lines of Mario Galaxy?
Of course, until Nintendo comes out and confirms this information, these Nintendo launch titles are just rumors.
The Nintendo NX is set to launch March 2017.
