Something cool is happening in Pokémon GO! Pikachu, Ph.D. is ready to make its official debut to the game. For a chance to encounter this special Pokémon, trainers need to show their competitive spirit and obtain 100 first-place PokéStop Showcase rankings.
Now if it's difficult to reach Platinum medal, trainers can earn other medals and obtain new avatar items that's inspired by Pikachu, Ph.D. These are:
- Bronze medal (10 Wins): Pikachu, Ph.D. Headband
- Silver medal (25 Wins): Pikachu, Ph.D. Glasses
- Gold medal (50 Wins): Pikachu, Ph.D. Pose
Research Day Event
This Sunday trainers are invited to join the Charged-Up Research Day Event. What happens is that event-themed Field Research tasks are going to be available when trainers spin Photo Discs at PokéStops. Those who complete them can encounter:
- Chinchou
- Electrike
- Blitzle
- Joltik
- Helioptile
During the event, trainers can also look forward to these Pokémon appearing more frequently in the wild:
- Pikachu
- Voltorb
- Plusle
- Minun
- Emolga
- Pawmi
By the way, trainers can also access an event-exclusive Timed Research for $1. This Timed Research challenges everyone to complete Field Research tasks and in return encounter more of the featured Pokémon of their choice.
Charged-Up Research Day is on March 3 and runs from 2:00 p.m. (local time) to 5:00 p.m. (local time).

Starting today, March 1, trainers can but a Wonder Ticket for $9.99 and get access to the latest Season of Pokémon GO. This Wonder Ticket introduces trainers to a world of opportunities with three sets of Timed Research that eventually lead to Seasonally-themed Pokémon encounters, premium items, and even a new avatar item.
Now it's important to remember that Timed Research expires. Tasks that are associated with each Timed Research have to be completed and their rewards claimed before June 14.
