Rainbow Six Siege update 5.2 launches on Thursday, and while we don’t have full patch notes yet, Ubisoft did reveal several key changes during a stream yesterday. Courtesy of a summary from KingYayo on reddit, here are the major buffs and nerfs to operators, weapons and more.

Tachanka

  • Gets a shield on his LMG with 500 hp. The shield protects his head and upper body. It initially takes the damage, but his turret can also be destroyed if it endures enough force.

Blackbeard

  • Shields break at 60 hp instead of 150. This essentially means destruction in one or two accurate shots. He still has two of them.
  • ADS time is doubled from 0.2 to 0.5 seconds when using shield.

Smoke

  • Throws gas grenades with a frag grenade animation. This makes deploying faster and longer range than it was before.

Fuze

  • Gets an additional cluster charge with a larger area of effect. It’s increased from 2.5 to 4.2 meters. The trick however, is that damage is doled out depending on how deep inside the radius the opponent is. 2.5 meters or below is instant kill. Beyond that there’s a damage tier.

Bandit

  • Gets a fourth battery as opposed to three.

Glaz

  • His OTS-03 has less recoil, faster rate of fire and an extra magazine.

Other Buffs

  • SMGs like the UMP, Frost’s FMG-9 and the M12 are buffed with less recoil
  • Shields are more resistant to explosives.

Maps

  • Bartlett University will be included as free multiplayer DLC in the update.

Misc.

  • Bug fixes
  • A lighting overhaul

More details will likely be revealed in the full patch notes over the next few hours and days, but these are a few of the big nerfs and buffs to expect. The listed changes mostly arrive due to direct response from the community. Onwards, expect more fine tuning to occur.

The Mid-Season Reinforcements patch is true to its name. It’s meant to act as an interstitial update leading into the start of season 5. To reiterate, the patch is expected to go live on Dec. 15 across all platforms.

Rainbow Six Siege is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
