Ubisoft shared an exciting road map for Rainbow Six Siege Year 2. Via the official press release, the shooter will feature four major updates, which include four new free maps, eight new operators, new weapons as well as new features, cosmetic items, exclusive seasonal content and events, and more improvements.
Via its diagram, the locations will include Spain, Hong Kong, Poland and South Korea, each promising to provide it's own distinct map and operators. From, Buck and Frost to Hibana and Echo, Ubisoft has done a terrific job in creating new operators to add new levels of strategy and variation to both Terrorist Hunt Classic and Multiplayer matches. Where can Ubisoft go from here?
For Rainbow Six Siege Operation Red Crow, Hibana operates sort of like a souped up Thatcher or Ash hybrid, thanks to her long-range breaching round that's capable of taking down reinforced walls. On the other hand, Echo does more to change the game as he is the only defender with a drone capable of hovering on the ground, flying along the ceiling and discharging a high frequency supersonic wave to disorient enemies.
For Year 2, I definitely hope to see more operators similar to Echo, bringing attacker attributes to the defender team or vice versa. Here are four operators I would like to see make it to Rainbow Six Siege Year 2:
Just like how Echo took a page from Attackers and acquired a drone of his own, it would be interesting to see another Defender adopt features from effective attackers like Blitz or Montagne. These too attacking operators carry mobile shields to offer additional armor against attacks. Blitz boasts a G52-Tactical Shield with a high intesity flash shield that acts as a stun grenade toward enemmies. On the other hand, Montagne's shield is expanable and capable of protecting his lower body even while standing.
The shields make both Montagne and Blitz the ideal pointman when it's time to enter a room. Defenders will no doubt also find this ability useful when defending a bomb or a hostage.
As for Attackers, an operator with attributes from Doc would be extremely useful in reviving teammates or giving yourself a boost in health. Sometimes it's difficult to find cover to reach a downed teammate lying on the other side of the room, so a stim gun will do a great job to aid your teammate without exposing yourself.
A second attacker to consider is an operator with attributes similar to Kapkan. Bomb diffusal scenarios are most intense when an operator is arming or defending the diffuser. Covering more entries with some door traps could be an effective way to counter an attack from defending operators.
