Team 17 and Crowbar Collective are working together as they work on Rogue Point, an upcoming roguelite tactical first-person shooter.
The former is the developer of Worms and publisher of Dredge and Blasphemous. On the other hand, the latter was responsible for Black Mesa, which was a fan-made Half-Life remake that was approved by Valve itself.
New Roguelite Tactical Shooter
The first-person shooter is set to come out in early access sometime soon. The story is described as a dystopian future where a single person had complete control over everything.
Following the individual's death, several competing companies have worked to divide his empire amongst themselves. In order to do this, they have chosen to hire mercenaries using the MERX app, which makes it as simple as ordering food online.
Right now, a team of vigilantes known only as Rogue Point are the only ones who are fighting back against the dystopian state of affairs of this chaotic world. The upcoming title will have teams of four players going against computer-controlled enemies, according to Engadget.
The enemies in the game have different classes that each offer distinct challenges for players to overcome. You will have to work together with your allies to strategize and use the right loadouts to increase your chances of winning.
Rogue Point features a lot of gear that you can get but some weapons will only be available while in the mission field. The maps in the game are procedurally generated so that players will not have two playthroughs that are the same.
Procedurally Generated Maps
Despite the randomness of the maps in Rogue Point, the developers have not mentioned what would actually change. These could either be enemies, layouts, objects, or something else entirely, Rock Paper Shotgun said.
All of these features make Rogue Point sound similar to Ready Or Not, which is a hardcore tactical co-op shooter that focuses on players raiding a room full of bad guys. The upcoming title is also a unique route for Crowbar Collective to take following its Black Mesa creation.
Alongside the reveal trailer for Rogue Point, it was also noted that the game will feature solo and offline support. The title is being developed using Unreal Engine 4. Players will be able to complete various missions to progress through their runs.
As they work to fight enemies, they can unlock various new skills and evolve their operators. This is something similar to what is seen in other roguelite games and their progression systems, according to Kotaku.
