Valve is rumored to be working on Half-Life 3 after online users found a reference to the franchise on the resume of a voice actor. Steam, Valve

There are rumors that Half-Life 3 is currently in development as Valve is reportedly working on a new game other than the previously talked about Deadlock.

The claims come after the resume of a voice actor was found to have a new line that referenced "Project White Sands (video game)." The individual in question is Natasha Chandel and the reference is expected to have already been removed by now.

Chandel did not provide any information about the kind of voice work that she did for the project but it was clearly marked as something that belonged to Valve.

Members of the Gaming Leaks and Rumours subreddit also noted the "white sands" reference meant something.

They said that this was more likely than not pertaining to Half-Life 3 compared to something like Left 4 Dead 3. The reasoning they had for this assumption was that White Sands is a park in New Mexico where Black Mesa was located, according to Eurogamer.

One commenter also said that these are the kinds of leaks that are always fun to talk about as they are from a first-hand source that was not filtered through some influencer trying to vaguepost for engagement on the internet.

They added that the leak came from a voice actor who has never heard of Steam and nonchalantly mentioned that they did some work on the potential Half-Life 3 project. Another user said, "F*ck it, I'm putting my clown makeup back on."

The leak comes as the voice actor, Chandel, has several video game credits under her name, including Starfield and Call of Duty: Vanguard, among others. This gave even more credence that her latest work is for something that is relatively mainstream, said TheGamer.

Valve's Ongoing Development Work

Despite the reference to White Sands in the voice actor's resume, everything right now is still speculative, and Valve could be working on an entirely different title.

One social media user also said, "HL3 copium is back boys," referencing how the game is now back in the minds of many players.

The rumors come as Valve's other new game, Deadlock, is described as a third-person shooter with heroes, abilities, and what seems to be a Dota 2-style map. While there are already people playing the game, the studio has not yet acknowledged its existence.

The game recently got its own subreddit that describes itself as "the go-to community for Deadlock, a third-person MOBA currently in development by Valve Corporation."

There have been steady posts from players who shared their thoughts on the game, according to PCGamer.
