Since Sea of Thieves was released in 2018, the game has continued to receive a ton of post-launch content that helped in making the game feel fresh even years after release. Even though Sea of Thieves did not have a smooth launch, today, it boasts over 15 million players. This goes to show how much the community loves this online pirate-adventure game. Developer Rare has also done a phenomenal job in engaging with the large player base by releasing seasonal content and exciting events at a regular pace. And according to Rare's Joe Neate, 2021 will be the biggest year for Sea of Thieves yet.
If you didn't already know, Sea of Thieves received a new update today that focuses on improving the gameplay experience by sorting out bugs and introducing some quality of life changes. Sea of Thieves' official Twitter account made a post announcing the update, and Rare's Joe Neate used the opportunity to tease that the game has big plans for next year.
While Neate hasn't shared the details on what to expect from Sea of Thieves in 2021, the sound of the statement seems that something big is being planned. Since Neate has already teased the future update, we are hoping that fans won't have to wait too long to learn about what to expect.
Recently, Rare also confirmed that Sea of Thieves will be coming to Xbox Series X/S. The developer revealed that the game will run at 4K and 60FPS on the Xbox Series X, and at 1080p and 60FPS on the Series S. The game will also load faster on both consoles.
The Xbox Series X is significantly more powerful than the previous generations' Xbox One X console. The developers will certainly want to use this power to their advantage.
Sea of Thieves is available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
