Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a highly anticipated PS5 launch title, and fans have big expectations for the game. Last week, Insomniac confirmed a series of bad news regarding Spider-Man: Remastered, including no free upgrade for PS4 users, no save transfers, and no standalone edition of the game. Naturally, fans have been worried if Miles Morales will suffer the same fate as Spider-Man: Remastered. Fortunately, Insomniac has confirmed that unlike Spider-Man: Remastered, Miles Morales will feature cross-save.
The information was confirmed after a Twitter user replied to Insomniac's tweet, asking if Miles Morales will feature cross-save. Insomniac replied with a confirmation stating that Miles Morales will let players transfer save files from PS4 to PS5. The developer also stated that it will be sharing additional information on the topic when the game nears its launch.
The Twitter user also inquired if the PS5 will be utilizing PS Plus Cloud to transfer saves. However, Insomniac did not state whether or not cross-save will involve PS Plus Cloud. Since Miles Morales has been confirmed to support cross-save, fans have begun to wonder why the developer couldn't do the same for Spider-Man: Remastered as well. It'll be interesting to see if the mystery gets resolved.
There's no doubt that the PS5 will feature upgraded versions of PS4 games, and if those games don't support cross-save, the community will not be happy. Since Sony now knows that cross-save is an important feature that fans are looking forward to, the company may find a solution to make that happen on the upcoming console.
Meanwhile, things look quite good on Xbox Series X's end as the console has been confirmed to be backwards compatible with all previous Xbox consoles as well as supporting cross-save/cross-progression via Smart Delivery.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is releasing exclusively for PS4 and PS5 on November 12.
