The untitled Han Solo movie, the second of Disney’s new A Star Wars Story non- Episode films, is currently casting for the female lead. Little is known about Han Solo’s first headlining adventure, but the casting of Alden Ehrenreich as young Han Solo was just the beginning of a lengthy pre-production process. With the movie not due out in theaters until May 25, 2018, the plot is probably very much in flux, but new casting rumors suggests that the movie may have something to do with Han Solo’s wife. No, not Princess Leia.
Introduced in the pages of Marvel’s Star Wars comic series, Sana Starros tracks down Han Solo after the events of the original Star Wars movie and reveals herself to Han, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker as Han’s wife.
It turns out they were married, but it was strictly as part of a planned heist, the profits from which Han Solo kept for himself.
According to Mashable’s Jeff Sneider, Disney has narrowed down the female lead in the Han Solo movie to four potential actresses, none of them white.
While this doesn’t conclusively prove that Sana Starros will appear in the Han Solo movie, it certainly fits nicely with what the new Disney/Marvel canon has built for the character.
It’s unclear exactly when the Han Solo movie will be set, but it’s most likely to be in the years after the Clone Wars but before the events of the original Star Wars. Could the movie dramatize the tempestuous relationship and criminal dealings of Starros and Solo? For now, it’s the most likely fit for the scant facts available.
