Microsoft's plans to bring Xbox games to different gaming platforms, including the PlayStation 5, is currently changing the gaming industry, but one game still remains in question as there are no updates from the company. That game is none other than "Starfield."

However, a new report surfaced which claims that Bethesda is ready to release the space game, but there is still a hold up.

'Starfield's' PS5 Release Reportedly Ready For Release

Bethesda's massive 2023 open-world space adventure game, "Starfield," gave the world a different take on cosmic adventures. However, it has long been exclusive to Microsoft's Xbox and Windows platforms, but that changed when the software company positioned itself as a games distributor in the industry.

That being said, talks behind the PlayStation 5 version of "Starfield" have continued since Microsoft made its massive promise to the gaming industry about sharing its exclusive games with its rival. According to a new episode of "The Xbox Two" podcast, reporter Tom Warren has revealed (via ComicBook Gaming) that it was previously expected that this PS5 version was ready for release.

It's said that its possible release would join the "Shattered Space" expansion's drop, which came out in September 2024. However, only the DLC expansion came out last year and no PS5 versions were announced by Bethesda or Microsoft.

Warren revealed that because of this earlier planned timeline, the PS5 version of "Starfield" is ready to release in the market, and any time that Bethesda or Microsoft feels like it, they would be able to show up with the said port.

What Is Taking Bethesda So Long?

There are speculations from ComicBook Gaming which addresses the latest report from Tom Warren as to why Bethesda has not yet released the already complete PlayStation 5 port for "Starfield." According to the publication, it may be because Microsoft is looking to spread out or stagger the release of previous Xbox-exclusive games in the market and their availability on other platforms.

The report said that Microsoft has previously delayed game releases in the past to distance its market availability between the Xbox and PlayStation, and one example would be the "Avowed" game.

Additionally, Microsoft has already confirmed the release dates of other AAA-rated games from Xbox to the PlayStation 5 in the next month and a half. This features titles like "Forza Horizon 5," "DOOM: The Dark Ages," and "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle."

ComicBook Gaming claimed that, given these three games coming in less than the next two months, Microsoft may only be delaying "Starfield's" arrival to the PlayStation 5 for later this year.

That being said, there are still no specific dates for when "Starfield" will be available for the PlayStation 5, and if it will include the "Shattered Space" DLC upon launch.
