It seems like a new Nintendo rumor pops up every day, and the latest has nothing to do with the Nintendo NX, but some major new games for the New Nintendo 3DS.
NeoGaf , leaked a rumored list of 3DS titles for 2016 includes some interesting additions. But like the Nintendo NX release date rumor , the “source” comes from inside Nintendo, and wished to remain anonymous (so it’s far from reliable) but it’s an interesting list.
UPDATE: Nintendo has provided iDigitalTimes with this comment regarding the leaked 3DS titles. “We have nothing to announce on this topic.”
According to the NeoGaf post, the OP was given an internal U.S. marketing budget and scheduling overview for 2016, and the following list of 3DS titles were given.
3DS release list 2016 *Funded by Nintendo only*:
Spring-Early Summer
Mario and Sonic Rio 2016
Nintendo Selects Wave 1
Hyrule Warriors Legends
Disney Art Academy
Bravely Second
Code Name: “Caviar F” (all ages smaller budget game)
Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Summer
Code name: “Torte City” big budget unannounced game for all gamers core/all ages
Dragon Quest VII
Code name: “Cadillac” (all ages smaller budget game late summer)
Fall-Holiday
3DS Hardware Price Cut
Code name: “N-Stars” big budget game for all ages
Nintendo Selects Wave 2
Code name: “DMW2” possibly Disney Magical World 2
Dragon Quest VIII
Pokémon 20th Anniversary game “Niji” (remember code names mean nothing, forget about the Rainbow, your gold is not there.)
Among the biggest titles from thislist is the Pokémon 20th Anniversary game that is likely Pokémon Z . However, the listing has its code name as “Rainbow,” but the NeoGaf post makes a point to say that “code names mean nothing,” suggesting that this will not be the game’s official title.
The “N-Stars” game that is on the list is very intriguing, hinting toward the possibility of a “big budget” game for all ages, harkening back to Super Smash Bros. and the like: what could Nintendo be planning?
With Nintendo expected to announce its NX release and everything regarding the Wii U and 3DS before E3 in June, we hopefully won’t have to wait too long to learn more.
We have reached out to Nintendo for comment and we will update as soon as we get it.
But what do you think of this rumored 3DS title leak? What are you looking forward to the most from the list? Sound off in the comments section below.
