In Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 episode 17, Owen and Nathan Riggs are still at odds. We’ve learned that Owen isn’t a fan of Riggs, who was going to be his brother in law because he blames him for the death of his sister, Megan Hunt. The two used to be best friends and have shown how well they work together in the operating room. Riggs was engaged to Megan. However, Owen blames Riggs for allowing Megan to ride in a chopper, which has to fly over unprotected airspace to transport a patient. The chopper was never seen again and Megan is presumed dead.
In an episode 17 preview, Meredith has to call the two out on their arguing. The three are in an ambulance stuck in traffic and Owen mentions his recent relationship troubles with Amelia. In episode 15 , Amelia walks in on Own drunk, when the two were supposed to spend the evening together. This triggers issues about her own alcoholism and Amelia wonders if she can continue in a relationship with Owen.
In the preview, Riggs then mentions that he once bought Amelia a drink, not knowing that she was an alcoholic. This makes Owen upset and Meredith has to remind the two that they are working at the moment.
Meanwhile, Wilmer Valderrama plays a new heart throb patient, Kyle Diaz, who is at Grey Sloan to get brain surgery to ease his M.S. tremors. He is very flirty with many of the female surgeons, but may be a love interest for Stephanie. Will Stephanie break any rules by falling for a patient?
