In Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 episode 1 , which airs at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC, Alex is nervous about what will happen to him after he attacked another doctor, Andrew Deluca.
In the Season 12 finale , Alex came home to see Deluca on top of his girlfriend Jo, who was drunk. He assumed Deluca was taking advantage of her and began punching him repeatedly. However, the two had actually accidentally fell onto the bed as Deluca was trying to help Jo put her robe back on.
Jo had just revealed to Deluca that she couldn’t accept Alex’s marriage proposal because she was already married. She revealed she escaped her abusive husband by running away and that Alex does not know her real name. She’d gotten into an argument with Alex about their future and ran into Deluca at a local bar as she was drinking away her frustrations.
In the season’s premiere episode, Deluca has suffered serious injuries and is in surgery. Meredith is trying to encourage Alex to talk to the police or to Chief of Surgery, Dr. Bailey. Ben suspects something is amiss when he sees the condition of Alex’s hand.
It appears Meredith will keep Alex’s secret for a while when he confesses to her that he saw Deluca on top of Jo and was defending her.
Will Alex confess to attacking Deluca? We will find out during the season premiere, which is best viewed on television or live online through ABC Live .
Meredith is carrying other secrets, too. In Season 12, Amelia and Owen get married with Dr. Nathan Riggs as Owen’s best man. Meredith and her sister Maggie and bridesmaids and was the ceremony is taking place, Maggie believes Riggs is making eyes at her, when he is actually flirting with Meredith. Meredith and Riggs had been casually hooking up and Riggs hinted to her moments prior to the wedding that he was interested in more. However, Maggie confesses her feelings for Riggs to Meredith.
Meanwhile, April and her daughter are safe and well after an emergency birth where Ben had to perform a Cesarean section on April in an unsterilized kitchen without anesthesia. But April and Jackson's mother, Katherine, begin arguing about what the baby should be called.
Jackson's mother comes to see the baby and asks April about her name, assuming she would be the namesake. However, April will confess her new daughter won’t be named Katherine, which will not go over well with Katherine’s mother. The two have butted heads through most of April and Jackson’s relationship.
