Recently, 30 minutes of gameplay footage for Assassin's Creed Valhalla leaked online and it has raised serious concerns amongst fans. The gameplay looks very identical to the previous two Assassin's Creed games - Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. The world design looks similar and even combat feels 'Warrior'-type rather than Assassin's Creed type.
At the same time, Ubisoft has been trying to scrub the footage from the face of the internet. From what we have seen from the leaked footage, it is clear that the video is from a work-in-progress build of the game and the final results could be quite different. The leaks have emerged online just a week ahead of Ubisoft's official Ubisoft Forward Livestream.
The footage showcases a mission featuring an assault on Burgh Castle in East Anglia and it also gives us a look at the female version of Eivor. We also get to see a bit of the open-world design and Eivor's communication with allies. We can also see Eivor taking charge of the longship and making her journey to the castle.
Upon arriving at the castle, Eivor engages in long combat as she has to break through the castle gates using a battering ram. As the mission concludes, Eivor is granted a choice to either kill the castle owner or spare him.
Additionally, we also get a look at the game's skill tree and at Eivor's companion raven, which Eivor calls Raven Sight.
Currently, Ubisoft is taking down footage uploads from YouTube. However, several mirrors are popping up on various websites.
As of now, Ubisoft has only officially released two trailers for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, including a cinematic trailer and a gameplay teaser trailer.
We still hope that the leaked footage isn't what the actual game turns out to be and, given that the footage comes from a work-in-progress build, the end product will turn out to be much more polished and beautiful.
