Survival games have been popular among gamers, especially those deal with disaster or some post-apocalyptic type of event. An example of which is a game released last March 27 by "Sniper Elite" developer, Rebellion.

Here's what you have to know about "Atomfall."

'Atomfall'

Released on March 27, 2025, "Atomfall" is a survival game developed and published by Rebellion. It's set in the 1960s, specifically in a version of Northern England that has been turned into radioactive quarantine zone.

The game is an example of alternative history, which means that historical events in the game actually happened differently than in actual history.

The player takes on the role of an amnesiac who has to uncover what happened while dealing with mutated creatures, rogue military agents, and even a cult.

'Mostly Positive' Reviews on Steam

As of press time, "Atomfall" has more than 2,000 user reviews on Steam, which the platform has categorized as "Mostly Positive."

Steam user klosterhiem described the game in a review as "A pleasing exercise in self-directed exploration, uncovering clues, and a solid underpinning of crafting, combat, and stealth systems that all did just enough to give the thing some structure and no more beyond what was needed."

"Great game that doesn't hold your hand and lets you tackle it any way you choose," user Yruhere88 said in a separate review. "You have the freedom to go anywhere, do anything, kill anyone, etc. and the game lets you."

"Gameplay is very satisfying with one shot to the head killing human enemies," Yruhere88 added. "It runs very well too."

3.1 Stars on Google Reviews

Over at Google Reviews, "Atomfall" has a 3.1-star rating, as of press time.

"As a big Fallout fan—and being British—I really enjoyed the storyline, visuals, and voice acting," Google user Russell Wilson said in a review. "There's something strangely entertaining about constantly being ambushed by pesky axe-wielding Welsh bandits, which isn't something I've ever come across in a game before!"

"That said, there are a few areas where I think the game could improve," Wilson added. "The weapon selection feels a bit limited, and I'd love to see more era-appropriate guns with customization options. Learning ammo recipes would also add a fun layer of depth."

"If there was a veteran permadeath mode, day/night cycle, melee blocking, and a mode of transport like a bicycle or motorbike, this would be one of the best survival-thrill-horror role playing games! Up there with but not quite next to outlast," Google user Bryden Vale said in a separate review.

"Plus, there's potential for sequels or DLC expanding the lore and world of the game using the future Chernobyl, Fukishima and Three Mile Island nuclear events as a basis," Vale pointed out.
