Back in Season 3 episode 15, “Spacetime,” Daisy saw into the future after coming into contact with Charles Hinton, an inhuman able to predict death. She saw the quinjet in outer space, a cross necklace floating around, and the side of a S.H.I.E.L.D. jacket glowing in the distance. If that alone doesn’t convince you something tragic is going to happen in tonight's 2-hour season finale, the entire cast has also confirmed someone will perish in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 finale, but who will it be?

From a writer's perspective, which character’s death would have the most shock value and impact on the show moving forward? This narrows it down to not only the most important characters, but the three that have been around the longest: Coulson, Daisy, and May. As much as we love Fitz, Simmons, and Mack, they're all replaceable characters. It’s a safe bet at this point it’s not going to be Daisy or Coulson because the series would just derail completely without them. If May dies, she’s not going down without an epic fight. She’s been a prominent character all 3 seasons. Her death is somewhat expected by now, but it’s how she dies that’s will bring us that big WTF moment that every great season finale needs.

If I had to choose, my guess is May. Daisy is May’s protege. She’s replaced May’s spot as Coulson’s #2 and May has taught her everything she needs to know to be the next ‘Cavalry.’ I hate to say it, but May has very few things left to live for. S.H.I.E.L.D. is her life now that Lash is gone and she desperately wants revenge on Ward. If may dies, Daisy is ready to step in and take her place.

We’re going to have to say goodbye to one S.H.I.E.L.D. team member today, and if it’s not May, here are the other options:

Coulson

If Coulson dies, I’m going to be genuinely shocked. He’s already basically came back from the dead, and his presence is what makes the show. However, considering he feels a paternal responsibility toward Daisy, he’d do just about anything to save her.

Agent May

Seeing the show has already lost Mockingbird, Hunter and Andrew, killing May would be a terrible idea. She’s not superhuman, yet she’s the only Agent that can actually keep up with the Secret Warriors and handle her own. They've had multiple chances to kill her in the past and never followed through. However, now that her ex-husband, Lash, is dead, May is in an extremely vulnerable mental state whether she admits it or not. May is the most loyal Agent on the S.H.I.E.L.D. team and she’d do anything to protect the organization, even if it meant sacrificing her life for Coulson, Daisy, or any other member.

Daisy

Daisy’s powers are too damn cool to kill off so early. She’s the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D’s new team of Secret Warriors. It would be an awesome twist if Daisy has been seeing her own death all along. If she actually does die, Season 4 would have to bring in an even more powerful inhuman to take her spot.

Lincoln

Aside from electromagnetic powers, Lincoln is a pretty boring character, His death wouldn’t be very impactful on viewers, but it sure would mess-up Daisy. Seeing we don't know too much about his past, I’m not sure it will be him since there is more storyline to explore. If it’s Lincoln, that would be a huge relief to most AoS fans.

Yo-Yo or Joey

We’ve barely met Yo-Yo and Joey, so killing them would leave no emotional impact. The necklace we see in the flashforward is Yo-Yo’s, and in the previous episode she gave it to Mack. Whoever dies tonight, it’s a safe bet Yo-Yo or Joey will take their place so I don't see either of the two Secret Warriors going anywhere.

Mack

Mack’s death would be heartbreaking for the entire team. He’s the glue that’s holding the team together right now. Daisy cares a lot about Mack, so it’d be interesting to see how Season 4 picks back up without him. But then again, remember Tripp? Can AoS get away with killing another black S.H.I.E.L.D. agent?

FitzSimmons

This may be a Legends of Tomorrow -like situation where someone is going to have to disarm something and sacrifice their life for the rest of the team. If this is the case, it’s going to be Fitz or Simmons since they are the show’s brains. They’ve already faced so much tragedy, Simmons in particular. Their expertise is replaceable, but their personalities aren't. If Simmons dies, Lincoln will become S.H.I.E.L.D.’s new staff doctor. If Fitz dies, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s going to have to bring in another character to take his spot. If it’s not May, my bet is on Fitz or Simmons.
