The Allison Road Kickstarter is officially canceled just weeks after its launch, but that’s not a bad thing for the studio behind the game. The game’s developer Lilith Ltd. has partnered with publisher Team17 to help fund the game.

Allison Road has a received a lot of attention due to its similar feel to Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’s now dead project, Silent Hills P.T. Allison Road creator Chris Kesler recently spoke to iDigitalTimes about the game growth amount in popularity due to the cancellation of another title.

“It wasn’t planned like this at all. We were working on the game before Silent Hills P.T. even came out,” Kesler said. “We were posting about Allison Road online about our progress and then the news came broke that Silent Hills got canceled. The press then picked up on Allison Road and called us the ‘spiritual successor’ and we sorted of rolled with it. For us, it was really incredible because it was unintended. It was really lucky. We’re humble; it’s some pretty big shoes to fill.”

The Lilith Ltd. shared a lengthy post about the cancellation of the Allison Road Kickstarter and what it means to backers. Lilith Ltd. assured the Allison Road supporters they would figure out a way to include them in their development process.

“Working with Team17 will give us the chance to make our game unhindered creatively, but at the same time will give us the resources, support and experience that only a 25 year old studio can give,” the statement reads. “For all of you that have pledged already for in game rewards, we absolutely promise you that we will look at ways outside of Kickstarter that will allow you to be involved in the game at a later date.”
