Apex Legends Season 17 is now live on consoles and PC worldwide. The new season titled Arsenal seems to be going all out. We got a brand-new legend, map changes, firing range improvements, balancing changes, and more. There is still much content to dive into including a new progression system, new survival item, and ranked changes.
Weapon Mastery
Weapon Mastery is a new long-term progression system in Apex Legends. Players can level up their weapons by using them in any game mode, earning Weapon XP through gameplay actions. Weapon-specific trials are unlocked at every 20 levels and completing them will reward players. Reaching level 100 and completing all trials will fully master a weapon. Mastering every weapon track rewards exclusive badges, trackers, banner frames, and Legendary Weapon Apex Packs.
New Survival Item: Evac Tower
Evac Tower is a great piece of utility if you desire quick repositioning. The survival item can be found on the floor, inside loot bins, and in care packages. Deploying an Evac Tower will create a relocation balloon allowing you to skydive off of it and move to an advantageous position.
The Evac Tower is time-limited and vulnerable to damage over time. Both enemies and allies can shoot the balloon, speeding up its destruction and leaving you high and dry.
Season Map Rotation and Ranked Update
The three maps of Seasonal Map Rotation have been revealed and they are Olympus, Kings Canyon, and the updated World's Edge. The Ranked System has received major tweaks as well, with the mid-season split removed. It is replaced with a full seasonal reset starting off with 10 provisional games. The Ranked mode will now only be available to players with account level 50 or above. Other crucial changes are mentioned below.
- New matchmaking by hidden skill rating, with skill adjustments made on premade sizes to account for the competitive advantages gained
- New Scoring system that emphasizes winning the battle royale
- New Bonus system that conditionally rewards wins and compensates losses
