Arrow Season 5 episode 8, the 100th episode of the series, was every fan’s dream. Just about everyone who could come back, did come back (though sadly Roy and Tommy sat this one out). We got to see Oliver go up against one of the craziest villains in Arrow history, Deathstroke. There was tons of action, but those scenes weren’t even the best part. Oliver also shed a few tears, got sentimental and received the closure he’s needed ever since the Queen’s Gambit sank in Season 1. Amell seriously brought the heat, and as the hero who got everything started for superhero TV as we know it, the 100th episode is one to be remembered. So to celebrate, here are ten of Stephen Amell’s best moments in the episode.

Oliver Running

Right off the bat, we get a running sequence. This was a throwback to the start of nearly every season premiere of Arrow, and a handful of other episodes. Check out the video below to see.

Amell told ComicBook.com, "The hundredth episode of Arrow begins in a very appropriate way: it begins with Oliver running. We've had him running into the premiere almost every year, we didn't have him running in this year, but we have him running in the hundredth episode."

Heart To Heart With Thea

Finally, Oliver has accepted his life at face value and come to terms with all the pain he’s experienced the past. This moment was heartbreaking and proved Amell’s acting chops. Thea didn’t want to leave the alternate reality, and instead of forcing her, Oliver let her stay. “I didn't make those sacrifices for a reward, Thea, I did what I did because I thought it was right,” Oliver tells her.

Killing Deathstroke

Oliver finishes off Deathstroke with The Dark Archer’s bow and arrow, which Thea tosses to him. Sara also killed him with a knife through the chest earlier in the episode. Both scenes were great and it was nice seeing Oliver and Dig rescued by White Canary, the fiercest lady hero on the show.

Speech To Laurel

“The only thing in the world that makes sense to me right now is that I love you,” Oliver confesses to Laurel. This moment was heart wrenching because of the Season 4 finale when Laurel confessed to Oliver that he’ll always be the love of her life moments before she died. Once Oliver realized marrying laurel was a fake reality, he made the touch choice of leaving her behind.

When walking in a dark alley with his father, they get approached by a thief who raises a gun to Robert Queen’s head (sound familiar?). Naturally, Oliver steps in front of the gun, but the Green Arrow swings in and knocks the guy out. Wait… what? It’s Dig behind the hood, and he tells Ollie to get lost.

Captain Lance

Lance and Ollie have butted heads for a large portion of the series, but they finally had a real bonding moment in the 100th episode dream sequence. Captain Lance told Ollie he was proud of him and happy to call him a son-in-law. Considering Oliver played a part in killing both his daughters in the original timeline, I can’t imagine Lance could say the same now.

Reunion With Parents

Robert Queen killed himself so Oliver could live in the premiere episode of the series. That’s Oliver’s last memory of his father. Everything Oliver did in Season 1 was for his father, and to get some final validation was a precious moment. Ollie and Thea also watched their mother get murdered by Slade Wilson, so to see them both actually get to say goodbye was a treasured moment.

This seemed just like old times, Oliver ripping an Arrow out of his chest like it’s no big deal. Malcolm has always been one of the only archers capable of catching Oliver off guard. While they’ve sometimes found common ground, they will always be arch enemies.

I can honestly say I never thought I’d see Green Arrow in a space battle on network television. Pretty epic moment for a street-level hero.

The “Invasion!” crossover event continues with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
