If you’ve ever wonder what it feels like to play a first-person arena shooter as a goat then wonder no more as Goat of Duty can answer that for you. A closed beta for the game is expected to begin May 9 and end May 13.
The game is inspired by classics like Unreal Tournament and Quake. The icing on top is simply that instead of humanoid characters, players control goats. These goats can use the usual lineup of weapons along with more unusual ones like grenades that bounce like balls and guns that shoot rotating saws. Of course, headbutting is also allowed. While players are not allowed to increase perks, loadouts, attributes, or stats, they can dress their goat from a wide variety of costumes inspired by gaming and pop culture icons.
Indeed, players get the chance to fight each other as goats armed with deadly weapons while shouting “BEEEEEEEE BEEEEEE BEEEEEEE.” With the closed beta, players can try three different maps in a Free-For-All mode. A total of five costumes are available for the goats to wear in order to know not only who is the deadliest, but the most glamorous of all goats.
In addition to the closed beta, the official Discord game server is expected to be up and running by this time. The goal is to give players the chance to discuss strategies and post silly screenshots of their different matches. It also serves as an avenue to give direct feedback to the developers 34BigThings and Raiser Games. Players are also updated through the server on the status of the game’s progress as the official release nears.
General features of the game include:
- Goats. You are an armed goat fighting other goats. It doesn’t get any better than that!
- Experience intense deathmatch multiplayer battles for 2 to 10 goats
- Fast-paced gameplay: Goats are fast and nimble, after all; they can climb pretty much anything and jump really high.
- Old-school, no-nonsense shooter experience: Just you and your skills against your enemies!
- Wear crazy goatstumes, dance like a goat, and troll your buddies when you bleat them in combat!
- Four multiplayer modes: Classic free-for-all and team deathmatch and two original Goat of Duty creations (stay tuned for details!).
- Explore a variety of crazy maps with different playstyles: Feel right at home on a futuristic farm, explore mountains in distant planets, survive the desert of the lambs, experience hair-rising fear at the horror well, wander adrift the space station, or encounter mind-boggling randomness at the medieval village -- among others!
