The Deadpool movie is set to break all kinds of box office records and has become an unexpected hit for 20th Century FOX.

But as with many films, there is a lot left on the cutting room floor and Deadpool is no exception. There were action sequences, jokes and characters that were supposed to appear in the first superhero film of 2016 that, for one reason or another, do not appear in the final product.

If you can believe it, Wolverine and Taskmaster were originally in the Deadpool script.

Mr Sunday Movies kindly put together all of the Deadpool deleted scenes, jokes and character omissions into one handy video, starting from the earliest script leaks in 2010 to the actual release of the movie.

Of course, with the video comes plenty of spoilers for the movie, so be wary.

If you felt that Deadpool was a little light on the action, you aren’t wrong. There were actually two large action set pieces originally in the film. The first was an extension of the highway scene from the beginning of the movie.

In it, Deadpool was supposed to have a motorcycle chase with Ajax that would end with the two fighting in a house being transported on a truck bed.

The other action scene was part of the finale of the movie, where Deadpool goes after Ajax -- not on a helicarrier, but inside a building, where our hero would shoot his way up to Ajax in a Raid-style battle. This is the real reason why Deadpool forgot his guns at home when he arrived at the helicarrier.

And speaking of Ajax, the villain was originally joined by three henchmen from the comics, Wire, Garrison Kane, and Sluggo, but these characters were cut and instead smashed together to make Angeldust, so there would be a strong female character in the movie.

The other aforementioned character cuts include Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, due to budget constraints and scheduling conflicts, and Taskmaster, who Ryan Reynolds told a recent Empire podcast was scheduled to appear but was cut for supposed budget concerns.

As for the jokes cut from Deadpool, there was supposed to be a running gag about Amy Winehouse avoiding death before being hit by a bus, with Deadpool joking about how we all thought she would die of an overdose. Unfortunately, the singer did succumb to an overdose and the joke was rightfully cut from the script.

Wade Wilson was also supposed to have a montage where he travels the world looking for a cure for his cancer, and another where he tries to kill himself in various over-the-top scenes after his surgery.

So what do you think of the deleted scenes in Deadpool? What do you hope makes it into the sequel? Sound off in the comments section.
