Trials Of Osiris was one of the most popular game modes ever since it was released during the original Destiny, and it was a very fun game to play with few issues and hackers. Unfortunately, the pool of Trials players seems to be drying up rapidly, even though the game mode was released pretty recently for Destiny 2. The number of players has dropped from nearly 400,000 players to 200,000 players, which is almost half its player count.
There are many reasons as to why Trials is losing in popularity, some of the main reasons are:
- Skill Difference
When newer players join Trials, they find it insanely hard to play a match against veterans or players with insane combinations who tend to stomp on newer players. Getting shut down by experienced players tends to make the newer players give up hope on grinding Trials, as it is one of the hardest game modes out there.
Some players eventually get bored and drop out of the game, as the game gets super repetitive and too much to grind with almost nothing new to experience.
- Cheaters/Hackers
This has been a major issue since the launch of Destiny 2 on Steam. The game is free to play on Steam and this makes it very vulnerable to hackers and cheaters to exploit. They can just make another account each time they get banned. This ruins the experience for other players who are trying to grind or have fun in the game.
Some of the well-known players in the community have also complained about this, such as MTashed. He stated that “I have played fewer games without disconnects or cheaters today, than games WITH cheaters and disconnects. Might quit Destiny 2 at this rate if it doesn't change. Views are going to tank but I am kinda done until this is patched. Sorry.”
Since Destiny 2 does not have a proper anti-cheat, the amount of hackers that go rampant without any punishment is way too high.
