There’s a new hottest weapon in Destiny: Rise Of Iron this week, thanks to the latest discovery from the game’s dedicated (sometimes obsessive) community, but acquiring the Outbreak Prime for yourself is no easy feat. Fortunately, we’ve rounded up all the information any Destiny player needs to add the powerful new pulse rifle to their growing collection of Year 3 exotics.

You’re going to need to have the appropriate gear, meaning at least a mid-360’s (ideally, 370+) Light level, before trying to find a raid group. Obviously, there’s nothing stopping you from trying to find a group sooner; however, you’re probably going to have a pretty tough time. Especially if the rest of the team wants/needs to complete the raid and isn’t just in it for the Outbreak Prime. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know to get the hottest new weapon in Destiny: Rise Of Iron!

Here’s how to activate all five monitors and get your own Outbreak Prime:

Monitor 1

  1. Once you reach Vosik, find the small room in the northwest corner of the encounter, identifiable by a ceiling fan that guards an accessible ventilation shaft.

  2. Jump up into the aforementioned vent shaft and follow it to the first monitor.

Monitor 2

  1. Midway through the raid, after passing through a narrow hallway with red silos on either side, you’ll reach an area (with another fan over the walkway) that stretches very high up.

  2. Climb the metallic framework on your right, using the grey pipe that juts out from the furthest yellow cylinder when needed, to reach the raised platform in the top-right corner of the chamber.

  3. Once there, locate the two pipes running parallel above you and jump up onto them.

  4. Follow the pathway to the second monitor.

Monitor 3

  1. Defeat the Siege Engine.

  2. While facing the boss, during the fall sequence, look for a glowing red SIVA cluster on the slanted portion of the Cosmodrome wall. Shoot it until it explodes to expose a hidden area.

  3. Jump into the hole in the wall to find the third monitor.

Monitor 4

  1. Take a deep breath, because this one might take more than one attempt.

  2. Upon reaching the server farm, find the big room with the large cube surrounded by metal canisters. Ask any four members of the team choose a canister (the placement and order don’t matter) and stand on it. If done properly, an audio cue will play. Don’t move though.

  3. The remaining two team members should head back into the server farm to find the two monitors, on each side of the chamber, that can now be activated. The players must take turns activating their respective monitors, in a Left-Right-Left-Right sequence, to reveal binary numbers corresponding to the canisters. The left monitor tells you the column number and the right monitor tells you the row number (starting from the bridge). Both are displayed in binary. Here’s how to decipher each combination:

  4. 0000 --> 0

  5. 0001 --> 1

  6. 0010--> 2

  7. 0011--> 3

  8. 0100--> 4

  9. 0101--> 5

  10. After all four players have taken the proper position, the cube will open, exposing a small chamber in the center that holds the fourth monitor the square opens

And here’s a video tutorial, via YouTube user Esoterickk , for those whose eyes rolled back in their head after looking at that explanation:

Monitor 5

  1. After defeating Aksis, drop off the left side of the battlefield to find a hidden platform

  2. Head down the hallway, which would normally be blocked the lasers you’ve deactivated, and you’ll reach the last monitor. Activate it and open up the nearby chest to receive the Outbreak Prime quest

To get the weapon itself, players must complete a series of quests as part of a team comprised of one Hunter, one Titan and one Warlock. Team composition is non-negotiable and everyone on the fireteam also needs to have the Outbreak Prime quests for you to progress.

Quest 1: Be The Battery

  • Complete a Nightfall Strike

  • Complete three Public Events in the Plaguelands

  • Complete three Crucible Matches or Heroic Strikes

  • Get 50 kills with a Pulse Rifle

Quest 2: That Light May Bind

  • Engine Synchronized

To synchronize the SIVA Engine, each player must first tune their respective engine. Tuning is performed by activating nodes on the device, similar to the process for upgrading your equipment.

  • Hunter : Middle - Bottom - Middle - Middle - Bottom

  • Titan : Bottom - Middle - Bottom - Middle - Bottom

  • Warlock : Bottom - Top - Bottom - Top - Bottom

Once you’ve entered your own pattern, you’ll also need to enter the pattern for each member of your team. If done correctly, your SIVA Engine is now synchronized.

Quest 3: Parts Of A Whole

  • Actively Explore the Plaguelands

  • Fight in the Archon’s Forge three times

  • Destroy Sepiks Perfected

Next, you’ll need to align the Energy Inputs on your charged SIVA Engine. It’s another node activation puzzle, like synchronizing the engine, based on your class. Here’s the sequence -- thinking of the top node as 1 and the bottom as 4 -- for each group of Guardians:

  • Hunter : 2 - 4 - 4 - 1 - 4 or 4 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 3

  • Titan : 4 - 2- 1 - 2 - 3

  • Warlock : 1 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 4 or 2 - 3 - 4 - 4 - 4

Once you’ve completed the quests, you’ll have to complete the Wrath of the Machine raid a second time to get an item from each boss. Then you’ll need to complete one more node puzzle, forcing a final value of 730, which is easiest to solve when using developer and Twitch fan xgerhard’s SIVA Engine Puzzle Solver.

Now head over to Shiro-4 and claim your Outbreak Prime!

Special thanks to Datto , D0cR3d , Esoterickk , RiseOfBacon , /r/destinythegame and everyone else in the Destiny community who helped figure out how to obtain the first of what will hopefully be several exotic weapons hidden deep inside the latest Destiny expansion.
