We haven’t really gotten an excellent Star Wars game in years, and with the success of The Force Awakens , it’s about time we finally got one. Ahead of EA’s E3 event on June 12, we finally get some news on the new Star Wars games being worked on by Visceral and Motive Studios.
In a post on the EA website , Jade Raymond the Group General Manager for Motive Studios and Visceral Games mentioned that these two studios are each working on their own Star Wars game and that they will release more details about these projects soon. Motive Studios, since launching in last July, is “now 65 industry veterans strong” and are currently working on a new Star Wars game, along with some of their own IP.
Visceral Gaming’s Star Wars game is “still a few years away,” according to EA CFO Blake Jorgensen, who spoke at an EA shareholders meeting . Amy Henning, who used to work on Splinter Cell games at Ubisoft and the Uncharted trilogy at Naughty Dog, is heading the whole thing and “is a rare breed of storyteller, and she’s collaborating with the creative leaders at Lucasfilm to tell a new, authentic Star Wars story.”
Rumors are circulating that this new game might be like 1313, letting you play as Boba Fett. 1313 was destroyed when Lucasfilm was disbanded, so we never actually got a chance to see an awesome, next-gen Star Wars game. I’m hoping that this one will live up to the hype. Star Wars hasn’t had a good game since Knights of the Old Republic with Lego Star Wars being a close second .
