Diablo II: Resurrected is a remaster of the classic ARPG released over two decades ago and is developed by Blizzard in partnership with Vicarious Visions.
It will be the first time that Diablo II to be available on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. And while that is a good thing, some in the community have already expressed their concerns about the upcoming game, specifically how scammers can potentially abuse trading in the console version.
Trading Bug
Redditor @fashionplaymaker warned those who will play Diablo II: Resurrected to be wary of a trading bug that can possibly be abused by scammers.
According to the Redditor, whenever you “pick up” any of your equipped items and close the inventory window, that item will drop to the ground. They’ve added that the same thing can also happen when trading.
This presents a huge problem for console users, mainly because it naturally takes longer to drag and drop items to the trade window when using controllers.
In fact, some Diablo III console players have already reported a similar issue, but it seems no one at Blizzard is taking notice.
Unless you’re pretty quick in dragging and dropping your items to the trade window, the likelihood of this happening to you is high.
Another Redditor noticed the issue as well when they were playing in the open beta. It happened to them a few times but not sure if it was on their end or in the game itself. They’ve added that searching for answers online yielded nothing.
In response, @fashionplaymaker said that some console players may have known about this bug, but they are keeping it to themselves to "exploit it" upon the game’s release.
Redditor @iWushock replied to the original poster and said that the issue has been reported multiple times on the Blizzard forums. However, it seems that the reports fell on deaf ears as it still persists.
While the developers are adding many quality-of-life improvements to the game, an issue as big as this one should not be left unattended.
Although the issue can be quite problematic, there are possible solutions to this. The devs could prevent dragged items from dropping to the ground when the trade window is closed. They could also safeguard the item being traded by returning it to the inventory when a transaction does not push through.
What do you think? Should the devs pay more attention to this issue rather than focusing on other things in the game? Also, what other things can you suggest to prevent this from happening?
