The Doctor Strange DVD release brings some amazing Black Panther concept art of Wakanda, the home of King T’Challa. Known for its high-tech culture and the indestructible metal, Vibranium (what Captain America’s shield is made out of), the nation is fairly isolated from the rest of the world. This is our first real look at the landscape to expect in Black Panther, which arrives in theaters just over a year from now. Images show grand halls, an ultra-modern skyline reminiscent of Dubai or Rio de Janeiro, ancient architecture preserved behind translucent shields, intricate indoor gardens (which could be Necropolis), a vibranium mine, and dense jungle.
After the events of Captain America: Civil War and his team-up with Iron Man, Black Panther chose to help Steve Rogers and keep Winter Soldier safe in Wakanda in the post-credits scene. Now, he’ll fight to protect his country from inside and outside threats following the death of his father.
