Fighting is complex in Dragon Ball FighterZ, but one technique that players will definitely want to learn to use is the Sparking Blast.
This special, one-time-only move temporarily powers you up, as well as your allies. The S symbol (the one that looks like Samus’ logo) below your health bar tells you when you can use it. If you haven’t used it yet in battle, it will glow. The more allies that are downed, the brighter it glows, until it’s red.
Activate Sparking Blast by pressing R1 and R2 together. You can blast an opponent away from you if you’re being cornered, or the move can be used offensively, to extend combos.
The effect of Sparking Blast is two-fold. The first thing it does is heal you and your team faster. After being hit in Dragon Ball FighterZ , your health will go down, but your original amount will be shaded in blue. If you don’t get hit again, you can heal that portion of your health by switching out. Sparking Blast increases the rate at which the blue health is recovered, allowing you and your allies to get back in the fight more quickly.
The second effect is boosting your attacks, which is key to making a comeback when you’re down 3v1 or 3v2. If you’re familiar with the X-Factor technique in Marvel vs Capcom 3, then you’ll understand how the Sparking Blasts can give you a chance at a comeback.
While it makes sense to use Sparking Blast when you’re down to one fighter and the effects will be strongest, consider using it when you’re down 3v2. You can make a comeback sooner and not be at such a risk of losing the battle, since you’ll have one more fighter left and can heal more than one character at the same time.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is out now for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
