Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero was recently released in early access and is topping charts left and right. Players are diving in to enjoy the What If battles of their favorite characters.

The early access version of the game is available to players who pre-ordered digital copies for either the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions of the game. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has a roster of 181 total playable characters.

There are a variety of features and mechanics that players can learn as well as skills to master. Since the launch of the early access version, fans have played tirelessly to master their favorite characters' fighting styles.

This guide for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero helps players learn one particular mechanic present in the game. This is how to transform and fuse various characters to turn them into different versions of themselves or characters entirely.

How To Transform

In order to transform a character in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, you will have to meet various requirements that are different for each character. There are also some characters who are unable to transform at all, according to Esports Illustrated.

When you are choosing your character, you can see their transformations on the left side. If there are no transformations shown, it means that the character is unable to access this particular feature.

There are minor transformations, such as Goten base to Super Saiyan 1 that only require one skill point. But there are others that make drastic changes to the character, such as Goku GT base to Super Saiyan 4 that require multiple skill points.

You will see a little blue icon with a yellow crest in the middle when you are able to transform your character. You should then hold the Up button on the D-pad to open up a menu. You then press the respective button that will prompt a transformation.

How To Fuse

Fusion works relatively similar to transformations but you will have to pick a team with two characters that have a fusion together. Examples of this are Goku and Vegeta and Goten and Trunks, IGN said.

You will need to build up the skill counter until you see the symbol and press Up on the D-pad. Tab over to the fusions sub-menu using the R1 button and select the face button that corresponds to the fusion you want.

One other thing to note is that you can only fuse if you select the right versions of both characters that are part of the fusion. This means you cannot fuse Goku from the Saiyan saga with Vegeta from the end of Dragon Ball Z.

Other Tips

While transformations and fusions are key mechanics in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, there are more things that players should be aware of to master their fighters. One of these is changing characters mid-fight.

You can do this by holding Left on the D-pad and pressing the corresponding face button of the character you want to come in. You can only change characters when the black and yellow icons start flashing.

Another feature is Chase Change which allows you to have your incoming player perform an attack when they switch in. In order to do this, you need to smash the opposition fighter so that they are flying through the air.

You then quickly change to a different character who will hit your enemy after joining the fray. It is a useful mechanic that is relatively difficult to pull off, especially in the midst of fighting with another player, according to Game Rant.
