A massive new update is heading to EVE: Valkyrie this month, the first of several CCP has planned for 2017, featuring everything from improved targeting reticules to an entirely new game mode for the EVE: Valkyrie community. Fans are also getting their first look at the game’s long-awaited competitive mode, Valkyrie League, which enters alpha testing later this month.
Hilariously enough, CCP isn’t actually saying much about the Wormhole Update’s eponymous feature, despite publishing a lengthy breakdown of the patch on the EVE: Valkyrie website. The studio says Wormhole mode “twists much of what you know about Valkyrie into weird and wonderful new encounters” but claims that any additional commentary on the new offering would only spoil the surprise. CCP is also introducing an alpha build of its Valkyrie League featureset, tools for those who’d prefer a more competitive environment, and the studio says EVE: Valkyrie players can expect the first season of competitive play to begin later this year.
The new EVE: Valkyrie patch also introduces a variety of smaller changes, from improved flight stick support on PlayStation 4 to improved com alerts and the aforementioned reticule updates. The game’s first big patch of 2017 also rebalances player progression, reducing the amount of XP needed to climb the last leg of the mountain, and includes its fair share of balance tweaks for the ships already featured in Valkyrie.

EVE: Valkyrie is currently available on PlayStation 4 and PC. The game’s next patch, the Wormhole update, will be released Feb. 15.
