If you don’t mind losing the ability to fish, you can actually add a female party member to your team in Final Fantasy 15 -- but only through exploiting a glitch.

Check out the Final Fantasy XV video below to see how you can make Aranea Highwind a permanent part of your party:

Here are the steps if you’d rather not watch the video:

  • Camp at Cotisse Haven near Hammerhead. Wait until midnight, then save. (Pick up a nighttime bounty to fast forward to night, or fast travel back and forth to Galdin Quay until the time is spent.)

  • Head North towards the red fence wall until a Giant spawns. If one doesn’t spawn, use the beast whistle, which should queue a spawn at the next spawn location. If you get a bunch of Imperials, wait til the ship flies away, then fast travel to your car and back to camp.

  • Get aggro on the Giant. Aranea will be on her way. Leave the combat radius, bring up the map and then return to rest point. If you wait for signs of Aranea, it will be too late.

  • Before her descent animation gets the chance to play, open the camp menu. Aranea will join your party. If you take too long, the UI locks and you won’t be able to reach the menu. Instead you’ll need to reload and try again.

  • Open the menu and take a look around. Confirm that her dropship is there and watch her jump down. Camp after she lands, but before she leaves the party.

  • In the morning everything will seem normal. Reload the auto-save from the camping and Aranea will be yours… or at least in your party.

Have you tried out this glitch? Is Aranea a member of your party now? Is giving up fishing worth it? Feel free to let us know whether or not you tried out the permanent Aranea glitch in our comments section below.

REVIEW SUMMARY
Final Fantasy XV
8.5
Combat, Plot, Characters Create Something Flawed, Beautiful, Fantastic
Despite it's flaws, Final Fantasy XV is a milestone achievement: not just for being completed, but for being completed with polish, aplomb and love.
  • Engaging main cast of characters
  • Fun, fast-paced combat
  • A massive, beautiful world to explore
  • The Regalia!
  • Continuous updates have addressed some shortcomings of the initial release
  • Major aspects of the story feel rushed or absent, particularly toward the end of the game
  • Stealth sequences feel out of place
