The CW finally released an official trailer for the four night Invasion! crossover event where the heroes of The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow and Legends will join forces against against The Dominators. Supergirl will kick off the week of Nov. 28, somehow traveling to the Arrowverse to help Barry and Oliver. Since we haven’t actually seen these alien invaders yet, there’s still a lot of questions about what’s in store. Here’s what we’re wondering about most.
Heroes Face Each Other
Entertainment Weekly visited the set of the crossover in October and suggests we may see heroes going up against each other. The report claims The Dominators are a mind controlling race, unlike in the comics. In a photo in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine, The Flash and Green Arrow hide behind a wall from a man who looks to be Spartan. This suggests we could see some heroes brainwashed by The Dominators to fight against their own.
“...And even saw someone gets shot. No, we can’t tell you who, but we can tell you the threat that set the sprawling plot in motion: The Dominators, mind-controlling extraterrestrials threatened by Earth’s surging population of metahumans. If you’re wondering if “mind-control” = “we’re totally going to see these superheroes fight each other,” then you’re absolutely [REDACTED],” EW’s Jeff Jenson writes.
Black Canary Lives
EP Wendy Mericle confirmed in October that Laurel would be back for Arrow’s 100th episode and mid season premiere.Another photo released by EW shows the reunion of Laurel Lance wearing a white dress with her sister Sara behind her. In what capacity Katie Cassidy returns is unclear. Marc Guggenheim previously said that Mori and Robert Queen’s appearance in the 100th episode isn’t flashback or flashpoint related, but Mericle said Laurel’s appearance may have “a little bit” to do with Flashpoint. Stephen Amell also teased the return of Deathstroke. Could all this be a flash forward to an alternate reality that could have been?
The Dominators
Who are they, what are they going to look like and are they bringing a coalition? Guggenheim said DC TV’s Invasion! Is very faithful to the comics. However, if what EW suggested is true, mind control is a new ability for the dominators. In the comics, The Dominators did not possess powers but were technologically advanced and joined forces with more powerful aliens like Daxamites and Thanagarians to compensate.
Who’s The Leader?
Stephen Amell revealed the crossover has 20 superheroes in once scene. There’s four team leaders: White Canary, Green Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. Five if you want to include Martian Manhunter, considering he can do pretty much whatever he wants. And six if Rip comes back. I’d personally be down for a co-captainship, Martian Manhunter and Green Arrow would make a pretty badass team.
Will Rip Come Back?
It may not be a coincidence Rip received the call from Barry before he disappeared this season on Legends . Barry said not to tell anyone because it could put the team in danger. Is it possible Barry has sent Rip on a secret mission to save the world after attempting to do so himself. The situation sounded pretty dire. Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim said last month, “There’s a lot of plot lines, particularly I would say in Flash and Legends , that come to fruition in the crossover.”
If Barry has a plan up his sleeve, Rip is the only time traveler he could trust. At this point so far in Legends , finding Rip is certainly the deepest plot line.
