The Flash Season 2 episode 16, “Trajectory,” didn’t spend too much time setting up for Barry’s journey to National City where he will meet Supergirl. The Flash / Supergirl crossover episode, “Worlds Finest,” airs March 28 on CBS and by now we can assume Barry’s visit to National City isn’t planned.
Barry would do nearly anything to get to Earth-2 and battle Zoom. Now that Vibe has revealed Jay Garrick is Zoom, Barry won’t stop until he’s able to open the breach or somehow run fast enough to break the time stream and travel there himself.
In the last episode, Trajectory pushed Barry to his limits. Eliza Harmon’s powers come from Caitlin Snow and Dr. Wells’ Velocity 9 serum, which allows her to run even faster than Barry. Trajectory was running so fast she was able to generate electricity and suddenly disappear into thin air. Where did she go? She may have been running so fast she broke the time stream, and Barry may do the same to get to National City.
The “Worlds Finest” synopses hint that Barry ending up in National City could just be a case of time-travel gone wrong.
“Lost and confused after spiraling from his universe and landing in Kara's, The Flash asks for her help in finding his way back home.”
“ The Flash suddenly appears from an alternate universe and helps Kara battle Siobhan, aka Silver Banshee, and Livewire in exchange for her help in finding a way to return him home.”
Caitlin Snow and Dr. Wells appeared to have convinced Barry not to take the Velocity 9, but after Trajectory suddenly disappears and Barry finds out Zoom is Jay, he’s furious and heads to a cliff to blow off steam. He’ll likely use that adrenaline to run fast enough to travel through time, or inject himself with the Velocity 9 serum even though its side effects can be deadly.
In the “Worlds Finest” trailer, Supergirl and The Flash race to see who’s faster, just like DC Comics Superman Vs. The Flash, “The Greatest Race of All Time.” The Flash will also help Supergirl defeat Livewire and Silver Banshee to protect Cat Grant.
