Sky Germany posted the remaining Game of Thrones Season 6 episode titles, and the leaked titles are full of spoilers for upcoming series events. Episode 8 is called “No One,” episode 9 “Battle of Bastards” and episode 10 “The Winds of Winter.”
While the final episode title doesn’t give us much (The Winds of Winter is the title of the next book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin), the other two contain pretty strong indications for what’s in store. “No One” obviously alludes to the Faceless Men and Arya’s struggle to extricate herself from the cult of assassins. But it’s the title of Game of Thrones Season 6 episode 9 that makes the biggest promise: “Battle of Bastards” will feature the biggest battle in the history of the series.
The Battle of Winterfell, with Jon Snow and Sansa Stark riding against Ramsay Bolton, is going down June 19.
Trailers for Game of Thrones Season 6 have made it obvious that this battle was coming. When HBO announced that Miguel Sapochnik — the director behind Season 5 zombie smash-up “Hardhome” — would direct the last two episodes, many read that to mean a major action episode was in store. The leaked episode title confirms that Sapochnik will be raining down violence in episode 9.
“Miguel did such a fantastic job with ‘Hardhome’ we thought we should bring him back – this time with horses,” Showrunner David Benioff told Entertainment Weekly. “Horses are not easy, at all. And certainly in terms of numbers – number of extras, number of stuntmen, number of shooting days – it’s the biggest we’ve done.”
Ramsay Bolton’s days are numbered.
