On Monday we got a look at a new location appearing in Game of Thrones Season 7. Filming is about to begin in Spain at Italica, the ruins of a Roman city founded by Scipio Africanus after the Second Punic War. According to Watchers on the Wall, the amphitheater ruins will stand in for the Dragonpit, where the Targaryen dynasty kept their dragons in King’s Landing. But more consequential than the new Season 7 location is who will fill out. According to set leaks, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) will meet Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) and Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) at the Dragonpit. Not only does it look like Daenerys and her army will conquer King’s Landing in Game of Thrones Season 7, but an alliance between her and the North could also be in the offing.
Set leaks to Watchers on the Wall from “a reliable source,” claim Daenerys “will have at least one scene where she’s speaking with Davos Seaworth and Brienne of Tarth.”
This can only spell complete devastation for Queen Cersei’s reign on the Iron Throne. Whether she’s dead or retreating toward Lannisport, it looks like the mechanisms of power will be turned over to Queen Daenerys in Season 7, and she’ll be secure enough in her reign to hear entreaties from the North. Can a face-to-face meeting between Daenerys and Jon Snow be far behind?
With Tyrion advising her, it seems likely that Westeros will finally have a ruler who will take seriously the threat from the White Walkers in the North.
