The Pokémon Go Fest is kicking off in Chicago, and to celebrate the event, developer Niantic is bringing back the Shiny Horsea event! For a limited time only, specifically from June 13 to June 16, players will be given greater chances of encountering the Water Pokémon Horsea, as well as heightened odds to obtain the rare Shiny Horsea if they're lucky. Folks don't even have to be at the event grounds to participate. All around the world, people will be able to join the Shiny Horsea event and might even come across a Shiny Horsea themselves.
Of course, even though this is a special event, the usual rules still apply. Players who want to come across the Water-type Pokémon during the event will have to travel to bodies of water - whether its a local pond or a popular beach/tourist destination, or even a nearby swimming pool, as long as there's water. Horsea will only appear near its habitat, so keep that in mind when hunting for the Shiny during the event.
To spice up the prize pool even further, Shiny Horsea will be able to retain its "shininess' even through its evolutions, so this will be the perfect time to get Shiny Seadra and Shiny Kingdra as well, and get their information for your Pokédex.
However, despite the attractive prize of a Shiny Horsea, the Pokémon Go Fest has plenty more in store. Niantic's Global Challenges are back and players are competiting alongside their teams for some rare in-game prizes. Read all about the Global Challenges at the official Pokémon Go website.
Global Challenge Rewards vary depending on the challenges, but players can rest assured that if they put in the work, they'll be rewarded with some rare and powerful stuff. Catch Candy is up for grabs, as well as the appearance of three Shiny legendaries, Entei, Raikou, and Suicune.
