Ghost of Tsushima is going to get a lot better with time. For now, Tsushima only offers a single-player experience. You have to play the game solo, and there is no way you and your friends can interact with each other. However, that’s going to change soon. A brand new mode called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends was announced by Sucker Punch Studios.
Legends is a new co-op mode that will be added to the game this Fall. You will be able to play Ghost of Tsushima with two or four players. With two players you can enjoy several co-op story missions. These missions will be more difficult than usual and will offer some magical elements. You won’t play as any of the characters from the main campaign. Four new characters inspired by Japanese mythology will be available for you to choose from. More information about their unique abilities and advantages will be revealed later.
“We designed Legends to be an exclusively cooperative gameplay experience. You’ll be able to partner up with friends or via online matchmaking and play Legends in groups of 2-4 players,” a post on the official PlayStation Blog reads. “Each player can choose from one of four different character classes: the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin. Each class has unique advantages and abilities that we’ll reveal in the future.”
The four-player mode is even better. You and three of your friends, or randos from the internet, will be able to play the new Survival mode. It will be a wave-based arena where you will face some of the toughest enemies in Tsushima. That’s not all, as a new enemy type called Oni is also added which will have some supernatural abilities.
If the two-player co-op missions and four-player survival mode isn’t enough for you, then don’t worry. Sucker Punch still has more stuff for you. “If you can best the Story and Survival missions, you may be confident enough to take on the four-player Raid that will arrive shortly after the launch of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, sending you and your partners to an entirely new realm to challenge a brutal, terrifying enemy,” the blog said.
That’s a lot of multiplayer-focused content for a single-player game. That’s not even the best part. Did we mention that all of this will be completely free for all game owners? You won’t have to spend a single penny to play these modes.
