Ghost of Tsushima has been a massive success for Sony Interactive Entertainment. Sucker Punch's historically-inspired samurai adventure managed to sell over two million copies worldwide within three days of the game's launch. Even though the majority of these sales have been in North America and Europe, it seems that the game is also faring well in Japan. There have been reports that Ghost of Tsushima has exceeded expectations and it is becoming quite difficult to keep the game in stock.
PlayStation Japan said in a tweet that Ghost of Tsushima has been well-received, and that the game is out of stock at some stores. Currently, additional production is underway, but the game can be downloaded digitally from the PS Store if you aren't interested in getting a physical copy.
At this point, it is safe to say that Ghost of Tsushima has been a critical success in Japan. The game received a perfect score of 40 by the popular Japanese magazine, Famitsu. The only two other games that have received the same honor by Famitsu are Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Grand Theft Auto V. The magazine also awarded 39/40 score to Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Ghost of Tsushima's grand success in Japan was first reported by Twitter user @BenjiSales and the report seems to be based on Famitsu's weekly software sales update.
Surprisingly, Ghost of Tsushima managed to outsell Paper Mario: The Origami King, which also launched on the same day. Check out the full list of last week's software sales numbers in Japan, courtesy of Famitsu.
