Several leaks for God of War 4 have been released, and they all point to Kratos heading to a new location. Instead of the traditional Greek setting, the Ghost of Sparta will instead take on the gods of Norse mythology.
This information comes courtesy of NeoGAF by way of NerdLeaks and Twitter user @shinobi602. Both sources have proved to be correct in the past, so these leaks should be taken with some legitimacy. That being said, anything here could also be a fake, so do not take everything as absolute fact.
Dozens of pictures of concept art have been found, all showing new scenes from the still-unannounced God of War 4. While some may cry foul that these images aren’t necessarily about God of War 4, some explicitly mention Kratos. It’s highly unlikely another game featuring a protagonist named Kratos is coming out any time soon.
As for the clues to Norse mythology, there is evidence Kratos will be travelling to Álfheim, one of the Nine Worlds. This world is home to the Light Elves. Other evidence pointing to a Norse setting include Kratos using a big axe and also growing a beard. Sure, these things aren’t definitively Norse, but they also kind of are.
As far as gameplay changes, it seems that Kratos will be able to use his axe to cut vines and create bridges. He will also get stuck in at least two prisons along his journey, and the environment will be more interactive than before. For instance, Kratos can brush up against certain leaves, which will shoot out poisonous spores if touched.
If all these leaks are coming out now, it’s possible Sony Interactive Entertainment is planning a big reveal at this year’s E3 in June. Until then, we’ll just have to continue speculating on all of these leaks.
For all of the leaked concept art, head over to the NeoGAF thread on the subject.
