Hearthstone is an amazing card game, but definitely has some user interface problems. While playing games, cards sometimes disappear or become too tiny to click. Ben Brode, lead designer on Hearthstone, put out a video yesterday on Twitter asking players to apply to Blizzard’s UI team. If working on Hearthstone has always been a dream, here’s your chance to make it a reality.
In the r eddit thread, Ben Brode described what a UI designer at Blizzard needs to do:
If the video was just Ben Brode asking for applications, it wouldn’t be that big a deal. Brode is a loud voice in the community when it comes to finding unknown talent. What’s interesting about this video is we get to see what the new in-game icons look like in Hearthstone . Each game mode will get a different player portrait. Arena runs will show wins and losses and when playing Tavern Brawls, you can hover over the icon to read the rules.
Small tweaks like this might seem miniscule, but every little bit of extra in-game clarity helps. I am so excited about being able to tell my arena score inside the game. I have lost games without realizing I was on my last stock; now I’ll never be able to use that excuse again. All of these changes will come “in a future patch” according to Brode.
