'Hearthstone' Gadgetzan Expansion: Newspaper Teaser Reveals Bank Heist Theme, Kodos And A Chatty Bartender

Turns out that Gadgetzan Hearthstone expansion might be coming sooner than we think. A new issue of a fictional newspaper, Gadgetzan Gazette, just popped up on the Hearthstone website with a ton of interesting stuff. The main article, “City Builds First Unbreakable Bank,” talks about a new bank that just got built in Gadgetzan, which Mayor Noggenfogger swears is completely impenetrable.

Here’s everything we learned from the article:

The Bank

  • Mayor Noggenfogger, an NPC in the Gadgetzan zone of World Of Warcraft , has done everything in his power to insure that this bank is safe.

  • The theme of the expansion will most likely be a bank heist, with goblins and mechs doing everything in their power to get through all of the traps the gnomes have set in the bank.

  • Gadgetzan is a crime-riddled town and the mayor is doing everything in his power to ignore that fact. When a reporter asked about the crime, the mayor asked that she be escorted off the premises.

  • “Each teller's station is equipped with a large, red, candy-like button that, when pressed, releases a burst of confetti (and dispenses armed explosives) from hidden alcoves in the ceiling.” These sound like Hearthstone trap cards to me.

  • The mayor claims that the bank is “110% unrobbable”, which means somebody is going to rob it.

  • The article mentions that the bank will be opening with a “ribbon cutting ceremony next week.” Next week is Blizzcon, Blizzard’s annual convention where they tend to announce big projects, I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

  • Kodos, the giant cow-lizards of World Of Warcraft must have been causing trouble because the mayor made sure the bank was completely Kodo-proof.
