Do you think you’re an amazing Hearthstone player who can beat anyone that stands in your way? Blizzard has just unveiled a brand new mode perfect for you, called Heroic Tavern Brawl. For 1000 gold or $9.99, players can compete in a weekly tournament with some amazing rewards for those strong enough to climb to the top.
Like Arena, you can only win up to 12 times in Heroic Tavern Brawl, but if you do manage to win that many times, the rewards are gargantuan. 12 wins nets you over 1000 gold and 1000 dust, three golden Legendaries and 50(!!!) packs of the newest set. There hasn’t been a reward that big in the entire history of Hearthstone , which is just insane.
Lose three games and you are knocked out, so don’t waste your money or your gold unless you think you can play with the best of them. Getting zero wins only nets you one pack, do it definitely isn’t worth doing for the weak willed. Here’s Hearthstone game designer Ben Brode on the matter:
Blizzard must have realized they needed another competitive outlet for players, besides Standard, and this is a solid fix. Players who think they have the guts to attempt the climb can only try a few times a week, so it keeps bad players from wasting all their money and their time. Decks have to be constructed in Standard, so expect a lot of Dragon Warrior and Shaman when playing this new mode, which still has no release date.
