A new trailer for Hob is out now, ahead of the game’s first gamescom and PAX West appearances, but the brief teaser doesn’t offer much more than a glimpse of the world-building action at the heart of Runic Games’ latest adventure.
There really isn’t much to say about the latest promotional clip for Hob. For starters, the new clip clocks in at less than a minute long. More importantly, we don’t actually see much action in the game’s latest teaser. Instead, we see the titular character, Hob, interact with a single switch in the environment before staring off into the distance. Suddenly, a sprawling new landmass springs into view, exposing a variety of new locations for the game’s protagonist to explore.
It may not seem like much but the 56 second clip is a pretty effective summary of the moment to moment action in Hob. Players explore a beautifully animated environment, battling whatever enemies stumble across their path, looking for new corners of the map to rebuild. Construction can be triggered in a variety of ways, but mostly switches and buttons, and is used for aesthetic purposes as much as anything else. It’s also a convenient way to hide the game’s many secrets.

Hob is in development for PlayStation 4 and PC. The game is expected to debut later this year.
